Specifications

Precision cutting. Clean results.

Purpose-built for clean top-edge plastic machining, this Plastic Down Spiral Router Bit is optimised for acrylic, PVC, polycarbonate and HDPE. The single-flute down-cut geometry pushes the material into the bed, helping reduce lifting, vibration, and top-edge chipping. With a cutting size of 4mm × 12mm, it’s a strong choice for sheet work, profiles, shallow pockets, and jobs where the visible top edge matters.
Key benefits
Clean top-edge finish helps reduce chipping and breakout on the visible face of plastic sheets.
Polished cutting edge supports smoother cutting and helps reduce heat build-up in plastics.
The single-flute design helps manage heat and chip load, reducing melting, gumming, and re-welding.
Down-cut geometry improves material hold-down, helping keep thin sheets flatter during routing.
High-quality carbide for rigidity and accuracy—less deflection and better edge control.

Down-cut geometry for clean top-edge results
The down-spiral flute pushes cutting pressure downward, helping hold the sheet against the spoilboard and protect the visible top surface. This is especially useful for plastic signs, panels, and components where a clean top edge is the priority.
The single-flute design provides more chip space than multi-flute tools, helping control heat and reduce melting when routing acrylic, PVC, polycarbonate, and HDPE.
Applications and benefits
Ideal for sign makers, fabricators and CNC users cutting acrylic sheet, PVC foam board, polycarbonate, HDPE, and general plastics. The 4mm diameter gives extra strength over smaller 3.175mm tools, while the 12mm cut length suits thinner sheet work and controlled profiling where top-edge finish is critical.

Why Trust our Tools

We use the very same tools we sell in our own CNC and Trade work, and have been for years. And trust, we have used and been frustrated with expensive sub-par tooling in the market like you have; and we want you to experience what its like to use amazing tools.

What if my Tool prematurely Snaps?

Likelyhood is that this is either due to incorrect speed/feed rates, the wrong diameter (size) being used, or too much material being removed in one pass.
Suggested fixes include: upgrading to a larger diameter tool, checking the material compatability and speed/feed recommendation on our product's page, or consulting our team on better recommendations.

How do I get the best tool Life?

Clean off any aluminium or plastic swarf that may be stuck to the tool, and wipe down with Isopropyl Alcohol, or Methylated Spirits.
Additionally, in running carbide tools, make sure that workholding is rigid and loose parts are secured during cutting to prevent vibration and premature tool snapping or chipping.
Ensure tool paths include lead-ins, and that tool stick-out is a minimal as possible.
Make sure you are using premium good-quality collets and tool holders with high-accuracy

How fast are orders dispatched?

Same day if before 11am, otherwise the next morning.
If your order is urgent, please add notes in the order and the team may be able to fast-track dispatch.

What if I ordered the wrong bit?

Can I get technical advice before ordering?

Absolutely. Please feel free to call the team, who are more than happy to help, give guidance and point you in the right direction for your requirements.

Do we offer trade pricing or bulk discounts?

Yes. Please contact the team first before ordering. We will assess the quantity and may provide bulk discounts via a coupon or setting you up with an account.

Can I use CNC router bits in a handheld router?

Yes, absolutely. You may be more prone to backlash and chatter without a rigid setup.

How do I get the best edge quality?

Sharp new tools always leave the best edge finish; therefore it is advantageous to use a roughing tool, and a new clean finishing tool for the last pass
