This PCD Compression Bit combines true up-cut and down-cut flute geometry to push and pull chips toward the centre of the cut, producing chip-free edges on both faces of the sheet. With an 8mm cutting diameter and 22mm cut length, it’s built for CNC routing, joinery and furniture production across plywood, MDF, solid timber and laminates.
Key benefits
Chip-free edges on top and bottom surfaces thanks to up-cut + down-cut compression geometry.
Up to 25× longer life vs standard carbide in abrasive materials (less tool changes, more uptime).
High-speed productivity—PCD supports higher speeds/feeds than carbide, reducing cycle times.
Superior surface finish—sharp, stable cutting edges deliver consistent, smooth results over long runs.
Reduced downtime & lower total cost—higher upfront cost, but fewer changeovers and longer intervals between replacements.
Versatile in abrasive materials—excellent on wood composites, carbon fibre, fibreglass, and ACM.
Heat & wear resistance improves efficiency and stability in demanding manufacturing runs.
Improved safety & sustainability—fewer risky manual tool changes; no regrinding required.

Why PCD is different
PCD (polycrystalline diamond) cutting edges are fused onto a carbide substrate, creating an exceptionally hard edge that maintains sharpness far longer than carbide—especially in abrasive materials. The result is less downtime, higher throughput, and a more consistent finish over long production runs.
Extreme durability & longevity—ideal for high-volume production with fewer tool changes.
High-speed productivity—higher speeds/feeds vs carbide improves cycle times and throughput.
Superior surface finish—stable edges keep the finish consistent from the first sheet to the last.
Versatile applications—excellent for wood composites, carbon fibre, fibreglass, and aluminium composite panels (ACM).
Shank options
This model uses a high-speed steel (HSS) shank to reduce overall cost while keeping the PCD cutting edge performance where it matters. A carbide shank version is also available for higher RPM / higher-speed cutting setups where maximum stiffness is required.
PCD vs other tool materials
Vs carbide: lasts significantly longer and maintains sharpness better, especially in abrasive materials.
Vs conventional tooling: stronger resistance to heat and wear, enabling higher efficiency and better manufacturing consistency.

Why Trust our Tools

We use the very same tools we sell in our own CNC and Trade work, and have been for years. And trust, we have used and been frustrated with expensive sub-par tooling in the market like you have; and we want you to experience what its like to use amazing tools.

What if my Tool prematurely Snaps?

Likelyhood is that this is either due to incorrect speed/feed rates, the wrong diameter (size) being used, or too much material being removed in one pass.
Suggested fixes include: upgrading to a larger diameter tool, checking the material compatability and speed/feed recommendation on our product's page, or consulting our team on better recommendations.

How do I get the best tool Life?

Clean off any aluminium or plastic swarf that may be stuck to the tool, and wipe down with Isopropyl Alcohol, or Methylated Spirits.
Additionally, in running carbide tools, make sure that workholding is rigid and loose parts are secured during cutting to prevent vibration and premature tool snapping or chipping.
Ensure tool paths include lead-ins, and that tool stick-out is a minimal as possible.
Make sure you are using premium good-quality collets and tool holders with high-accuracy

How fast are orders dispatched?

Same day if before 11am, otherwise the next morning.
If your order is urgent, please add notes in the order and the team may be able to fast-track dispatch.

What if I ordered the wrong bit?

If you wish to return, please see our return policy in the footer. There is a 15% restocking fee and freight is the customers responsibility.

Can I get technical advice before ordering?

Absolutely. Please feel free to call the team, who are more than happy to help, give guidance and point you in the right direction for your requirements.

Do we offer trade pricing or bulk discounts?

Yes. Please contact the team first before ordering. We will assess the quantity and may provide bulk discounts via a coupon or setting you up with an account.

Can I use CNC router bits in a handheld router?

Yes, absolutely. You may be more prone to backlash and chatter without a rigid setup.

How do I get the best edge quality?

Sharp new tools always leave the best edge finish; therefore it is advantageous to use a roughing tool, and a new clean finishing tool for the last pass
